Age 10 to adult – GROUP
Age 7 to 10 – SHORT BOOTS
Under 7 or any age drop in – LEADLINE
We are an English riding style facility with a focus on safety and all round horsemanship. We have a wide variety of students both in age and experience. Our desire is to provide a friendly barn where everyone feels welcome to participate and learn.
Our lessons include the care, grooming and tacking up of the horse. All students, age 10 to adult, begin with our INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE of 3 lessons. This serves as an introduction to horses for total beginners or an introduction to our methods for those who have ridden before. We generally run an INTRO 3 class each month (not winter) for up to 6 students.
After the INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE has been completed, students choosing to continue will join an appropriate GROUP.
The GROUP lessons are one hour sessions with 3 to 5 riders of similar experience. The group experience provides 4 lessons per month on an appointed day of the week. We work at the knowledge level of each group on dressage, jumping, groundwork, riding in the open and fun stuff such as mounted games. We also practice towards the student shows that we put on in Spring and Fall.
Once the students know our system and we feel they are safe handling the horses, they come early and get their horse ready (with continued supervision as needed). Then the riding part of the lesson will be approximately an hour, followed by students caring for their horse, (grooming, putting tack away, cleaning tack, cleaning pens, or such.) This means the students are eventually here for about two hours.
For the younger children (approx. 7 to 10) we have the SHORT BOOTS junior program. These are groups of 4 students learning via fun and social interaction, with extra one on one supervision (they are lead at all times). These are very popular with both children and parents. There is less burnout and when the children are mature enough to handle a pony alone, both on the ground and under saddle, they graduate to the group lesson program.
If you have a child younger than 7, or you just wish to do a one-off ride for any age, we can still do LEADLINE rides. These are rides around our property led by a handler familiar with the pony/horse.
You might also consider a PONY PARTY on your child’s birthday.

Please note that we only offer private lessons for students who have progressed through our introductory programs and become regular students and only if there is horse and instructor availability.
However, if you are ready, go to our Contact Us page to send us an email to begin arranging your INTRO 3 package.
